Dell to buy Perot Systems for $3.9bn

New York, Sep 21: Computer maker Dell Inc on Monday, Sep 21 said it will buy Perot Systems Corp for $3.9 billion to expand beyond the personal computer business.

Dell said, "Perot, founded by former presidential candidate Ross Perot, will expand the company's IT services offerings for businesses and widen the pool of potential customers for its computers."

Dell plans to buy Perot for $30 per share in cash. The deal is expected to be completed during Dell's fiscal fourth quarter ending in Jan 2010. Perot will remain based in Plano, Texas.

Chennai, July 30: Leading computer manfacturer Dell today announced commencement of production at its new facility at Sriperumbudur, near here. Speaking to the press after handing over the first 'Made in India' desktop to Mr R N Kaushik, Assistant Vice President of Infosys, one of Dell's largest consumers in India, Dell India General Manager Rajan Anand said ''current and future customers in India will be the beneficiaries of this manufacuturing plant as we help simplify.....

IBM earnings rise on services but margin narrows

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 16 (Reuters) IBM posted a 6 percent rise in quarterly profit on Oct 16 on strength in its services businesses, but profit margins narrowed and hardware sales fell on weaker demand from U.S. financial services clients. Shares in the world's largest technology services company slipped about 1 percent as the report, in line with Wall Street targets, also showed IBM's revenue gain was largely due to a weaker dollar.
