New Delhi, Sep 19: After Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Army Chief, General Deepak Kapoor downplayed reports of Chinese incursions into Indian territory, National Security Advisor, MK Narayanan warned the media against blowing the issue out of proportion, saying that the 'hype' could lead to "unwarranted incident or accident".
Speaking to CNN-IBN in an interview with Karan Thapar, Narayanan said, "In terms of number of incursions, there has been hardly any increase. Occasionally inroads are a little deeper than what it might have been in the past. I don't think so that there is anything alarming about it. I think we have a good understanding about the whole issue."
Pointing out that "India of 2009 is not (India) of 1962", he wondered why media was making such a big deal out of it.
When asked if media could create problems, he replied "If this thing (media hype) goes on like this someone somewhere might lose his cool and something might go wrong."
