Meet on Chinese incursions called off

New Delhi, Sep 18: India put off the high-level meet on the Chinese incursions scheduled to be held on Thursday, Sep 17, without citing any specific reason.

The National Security Advisor, M K Narayanan called for the meet to deliberate on the increased tension along the Indo-Sino border and formulate India's response to this.

History of Sino-Indian border dispute

Top officials including cabinet secretary K M Chandrasekhar, defence secretary Pradeep Kumar, home secretary G K Pillai and foreign secretary Nirupama Rao were expected to attend the meet, along with the chiefs of defence forces and Intelligence Bureau.

Even though no official reason was given for this postponement, reports say that differences between the external affairs ministry and the Prime Minister's Office along with the defence ministry led to this unexpected development.
