CVC lists 123 corrupt officers

New Delhi, Sep 17: The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) listed 123 corrupt government officials to be penalized or prosecuted on its website on Thursday, Sep 17.

The list was reportedly prepared in Jul 2009.

“In furtherance of the transparency initiatives and the spirit of the RTI Act 2005, the Central Vigilance Commission has decided to regularly post info / details of cases pending for sanctions for prosecution over four months with organizations / departments.

“Cases where the Commission has advised issuance of sanction for prosecution during the month and Cases where Commission had advised imposition of suitable major penalty during the month," stated the CVC website.

Till now officials only disclosed the number of corrupt officials, not their names.

It is said that Union Cabinet Secretary asked the Secretaries of various ministries not to delay sanction for the prosecution of corrupt officials.

Most Corrupts are educated at good schools and are toppers in examination. Engineers, Doctors, IAS are in the list of corrupts. Illiterates and educated in poor schools are less corrupt. These are institutions producing corrupts. Institutions should provide moral science along with getting good grades

Mr.Ripu Daman Gupta may be right in his observations to a great extent. But there is still a ray of hope even now. RTI is one of the powerful weapons which common people can use and extract information to give a fair stand to fight corruption. Though there are attempts to dilute RTI Act, it is mainly because of firm stand taken by UPA Chairperson Mrs.Sonia Gandhi the act is not diluted. She has given a ray of hope that corruption can still be fought.
