Japan elects Yukio Hatoyama as new PM

 Yukio Hatoyama
Japan, Sep 16: The parliament's lower house voted Yukio Hatoyama belonging to Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) on Wednesday, Sep 16.

"I have mixed feelings of excitement about changing history and the very heavy responsibility of making history," said Hatoyama, whose party defeated the LDP for only the second time since 1955.

However, it seems that the hands of the new PM would be full considering Japan's present economic struggle.

"The DPJ has got to come up with an agreed list of priorities quickly, because its manifesto is just a long laundry list," said Koichi Nakano, a professor at Sophia University in Tokyo.

Hatoyama would also need the  two tiny parties  support in parliament's upper house.
