Centre constitutes committee to review Road Vehicles ct

New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): The Union Government on Wednesday has constituted an expert committee headed by former Transport Secretary S.Sunder, to review the Motor Vehicles Act.

The committee has been asked to review the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 in a comprehensive manner in order to ensure that the provisions of the Act address present days requirements of the Transport Sector in an effective manner.

The committee comprising of Prof. Dinesh Mohan from IIT Delhi, O. P. Agarwal, CEO and MD, Urban Mass Transit Company (UMTC), S. R. Marathe, Director The Automotive Research Association Of India (ARAI), Pune, Dilip Chenoy, DG Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), and Transport Commissioners of Government of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka amongst others.

The Joint. Secretary (Transport) in the Ministry of Road Transport, S.K. Dash, will be the Member Secretary of the committee.

The committee will also study the contemporary Acts of the China, Japan and other countries before suggesting the measures. (ANI)
