Rahul Gandhi's 'austerity' ride attacked

Chandigarh, Sep 16: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's 'austerity' ride on the Swarn Shatabdi Express turned violent when miscreants pelted stones at the train at around 9: 45 pm on Tuesday, Sep 15.

The incident took place when the train reached Panipat, Haryana. While glass windows of C-2, C-4, C-7 bogies of Shatabdi Express were damaged, one stone even fell inside a coach. However no injuries were reported.

Speaking on the incident, Panipat SP Srikant Jadhav said, “Though it appears to be the handiwork of village boys, our probe is on."

SPG protectee Rahul Gandhi returned to New Delhi from Ludhiana at around 11 pm seemingly unfazed by the incident.
