Injury forces Paes to pull out of Davis Cup

New Delhi, Sep 15: Leander Paes has pulled out of the Davis Cup World Group Playoff against South Africa due to a shoulder injury.

The Davis cup against South Africa was scheduled to take place in Johannesburg over the weekend. However, Paes, who managed to win the US Open men's doubles in spite of suffering from the injury, doesn't want to take that chance again.

Speaking to the TV new channel CNN IBN, Paes said that it was a tough decision to make but he is forced to take this step as the doctors have advised him to rest for two weeks.

Washington, Aug 2: Mahesh Bhupathi and his new partner Tim Henman of England were shown the door in the quarter-finals of Legg Mason Tennis Classic here by third seeded Aussie-Zimbabwean pair of Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett. The newly-formed unseeded Indo-British combination were handed out a straight set 4-6, 5-7 defeat by Hanley-Ullyett duo to advance into the semi-finals of the 600,000 dollar hard court event. Bhupathi-Henman duo earlier got the better of Hyung Taik Lee of South Korea and and Michael Russell.....

Sania drops one place in both singles and doubles

New Delhi, Sep 24: After clinging on to the 27th position for three consecutive weeks, Sania Mirza dropped one place to 28th place in latest WTA ranking issued today. The 20-year-old Hyderabadi who is out of action since her early exit from the last grandslam of the season -- the US Open, has been nursing a wrist injury which also forced her to miss the Sunfeast Open WTA event which concluded in Kolkata yesterday. Interestingly, the newly-crowned Sunfeast Open champion Maria Kirilenko.....
