Yechury says Bhattacharjee will remain West Bengal Chief Minister

New Delhi, Sep.13 (ANI): CPI(M) Politburo member Sitaram Yechury on Sunday said that Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will remain West Bengal's Chief Minister, laying to rest speculation that he would be replaced.

"There is no such thought of removing him or that he should give up, or anything of that sort, on the agenda. He had fallen sick and it's as simple as that. He is a senior leader of the party and Politburo and continues to be so as well as CM," Yechury told reporters here.

Bhattarejee, who had earlier this month skipped a meeting of the politburo citing indisposition, is likely to be present in the next CPI(M) politburo meeting on October 11. (ANI)

Nuclear deal to meet 5 pc of energy needs: Yechury

Shimla, Dec 18: Continuing with its opposition to the nuclear deal with the US, the CPM today said it will only meet five to six per cent of the country's energy needs, while jeopardising its national interests. ''Besides, meeting only five to six per cent of the country's energy needs, the nuclear energy will cost a sum of Rs 11 crore per MW as against Rs three crore each for power generation by water and coal,'' party's politburo member Sitaram Yechury.....
