Pak Govt says 5,000 Uzbek militants hiding in Waziristan

Islamabad, Sep. 13 (ANI): The Pakistan Government has said that it has credible evidence that there are more than 5,000 Uzbek militants hiding in North and South Waziristan.

Briefing the Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), FATA Additional Chief Secretary Habibullah Khan said these militants regularly travel through Balochistan.

The Daily Times quoted him as saying that the government has proof of US, Israel and India being involved in nurturing the insurgency in FATA.

On discuss government's inaction on foreign countries' interference, the Senate has decided to invite Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Interior Minister Rehman Malik to its next meeting.

PML-N leader Raja Zafarul Haq said the committee also suggested the government announce a compensation package for the people of FATA. (ANI)
