Manmohan singh
New Delhi, Sep 9: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, Sep 9, urged the lagging states to improve their implementation of the NREGA rural job scheme, which is the government flagship event.

"We still have miles to go before we achieve the full potential of this unique legislation. The performance of the programme has been uneven across states. Some states have shown good results, some are lagging behind. I urge them to catch up," he said.

Singh added that though major success was achieved under NREGA yet, it should be treated with more firmness.

He informed the setting up of a PMO delivery monitoring unit to review flagship projects, such as NREGA, jointly with the concerned ministries.

The process would exhibit optimum data on the website for the reference of concerned ministries.
