Jet pilots strike continues, 160 flights cancelled

Jet Airways Pilots Strike
New Delhi, Sep 9: With the Jet Airways pilots continuing their strike for the second day, up to 160 flights were cancelled on Wednesday, Sep 9. While the Jet Airways chief Naresh Goyal warned the pilots against the protest terming it 'blackmail', the pilots maintained that they were 'not under any pressure'.

The pilots' demand to reinstate their sacked colleagues gained support from eight major trade unions. Additionally, they have also demanded recognition of National Aviators Guild.

"We just want our voice back in the company. We want back our colleagues who were sacked," said guild president Girish Kaushik.

Claiming that the problems faced by the passengers was not due to the pilots, Mr Kaushik revealed that the crew of the airline has agreed to join them in the strike.

Desperately trying to get the situation under control, Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal met civil aviation minister Praful Patel. However, no details on the meeting were disclosed.
