Assam: 3 students expelled for assaulting teacher

Guwahati, Sep 9: Four postgraduate students of Dibrugarh University and three undergraduate students from the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh have reportedly been suspended for ragging and assaulting a teacher.

While the four postgraduate students were suspended for two semesters for assaulting some junior boarders of the hostel, the other three students from Assam Medical College were expelled from the hostel for assaulting a teacher last week.

The shocking incident of the students launching attack against the teacher happened outside the college campus around midnight on Sep 2, say reports.

"Apart from expelling the three students from the hostel, we have also debarred the students from attending classes for six months and imposed a fine of Rs.20, 000 each," principal and chief superintendent of the Assam Medical College TR Borbora said.

Both the incidents came to light when the Vice Chancellor received written complaints allgeing 'mental torture' bordering on obscenity.
