New Delhi, Sep 8: Thrashing Romanian Costantin Bejenaru in third round, Dinesh Kumar became the first Indian to qualify for the quarterfinals in the World Boxing Championship.

Dinesh (81 kgs) ousted his rival 19-7 on Monday, Sep 7. He will now be face Russian Artur Beterbiev in the next round.

This fight would be a tough one for the Indian as he will be clashing against the Russian who won the silver medal in 2007's World Championships.

Chicago, Oct 24: India began on a disappointing note with Suresh Singh biting the dust against David Oltvanyi of Hungary in the bantamweight (54kg) first round bout on the first day of the World Boxing Championship here.
