CBSE Class 10 exams optional from 2010: Sibal

Sibal ushers in new CBSE reforms
New Delhi, Sep 7: The HRD minister, Kapil Sibal has clarified that the Class 10 board exam for students studying under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be made optional from the academic year 2010-2011.

This means that the present batch studying in the academic year 2009-2010 will have to attend the board exams.

"Grading system will be introduced from 2009-10," Sibal said. He said that the students can take examinations on demand after the board is abolished.

Apart from this, the continuous internal assessment named as 'continuous comprehensive evaluation' will be introduced in the current year in Class 9.
