Pak Interior Minister denies meeting Musharraf in Saudi Arabia

Islamabad, Sep 1 (ANI): Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik, who recently visited Saudi Arabia, has categorically denied meeting former President Pervez Musharraf.

There were reports that Musharraf was in Saudi Arabia and Malik had met him there.

However, Malik said he had also heard about unconfirmed reports that Musharraf was in the Kingdom.

Malik reiterated that there will be no trial of the former dictator unless parliament adopts a resolution.

He added the government believed in politics of reconciliation, and not vendetta.

The Dawn quoted Malik as saying that Musharraf's prosecution depended on a broader political consensus.

During his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, Malik met King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Minister of Interior for Security Affairs Prince Muhammad bin Nayef and Saudi intelligence chief Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz.

He also said that the issue of Pakistanis detained on charges of smuggling narcotic drugs had been taken up with the Saudi Government, adding that Prince Muqrin had assured him that if there was headway in Pakistani investigations, the issue would be considered before the Saudi courts reached a verdict.
