Indian snack Muruku fast becoming Eid delicacy in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, September 1 (ANI): Muruku, the savoury Indian snack, is on its way to fast become one of the most popular bites during the festival of Eid ul-Fitr, also known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, in Malaysia.

Primary school headmaster D. Munusamy revealed volunteers at the Cuddapah Sri Yoga and Meditation Ashram centre in Taman Universiti, were coping with the soaring demand for the bite.

"We get orders regularly and the amount usually increases during Deepavali," the Star Online quoted Munusamy as saying.

"However, in recent years, the number of orders for Hari Raya has also gone up," he added.

Munusamy further said that since Hari Raya fell only about three weeks before Deepavali this year, extra labour was being put in, about 20 hours a day, to produce more than 2,000kg of muruku for both the festivals. (ANI)

Jaya appeals to Mamata to call off her fast

Chennai, Dec 27: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa has appealed to Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee to call off her fast, which entered 24th day today. A release from the AIADMK office tonight said, Ms Jayalalithaa had written a letter to Mamata Banerjee appealing her to call off the fast. Ms Jayalalithaa also telephoned her and urged her to call off the fast, the release added. A.....
