Patna Doctors Strike
Editor's pick
Patna, Aug 30: Over 800 junior doctors, demanding a hike in payment of salary, continued to cripple work in Patna Medical College and Hospital and Darbhanga Medical College Hospital for the fifth consecutive day on Monday, Aug 23.

Official sources said that functioning of emergency and other wards was badly hit because of the strike.

Patna Medical College and Hospital Superintendent Dr O P Choudhary said, "Around 60 doctors from outside have been posted to manage emergency and other wards."

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made it clear that the state government would not remain silent on the strike.

"The timing of the strike is completely wrong and anti-people. It should have been amicably resolved, instead of resorting to a stir," Kumar said asking the junior doctors to withdraw the strike.
