Fake currency flowing in from Dubai, Bangladesh: Mumbai police

Mumbai, Aug 29(ANI): Mumbai police on Saturday said that counterfeit currency was flowing into Mumbai from Dubai and Bangladesh.

Speaking on the sidelines of laying the foundation stone of a Police Academy here, Mumbai's police commissioner D. Shivanandan said: "Much of the money (fake currency) is coming from Dubai or from Calcutta (Kolkata) from Bangladesh side. We are coordinating with the Calcutta (Kolkata) police on this."

Several cases of fake currency notes being pumped into the country have been reported across the country.

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), earlier in the day, arrested a key operative of a fake currency racket and seized counterfeit notes with a face value of 2,807 dollars. (ANI)

Riyadh, Feb 2: Saudi police arrested a man with weapons hidden under his clothes as he tried to enter the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Islam's holiest site, a Saudi security official said today.Police stopped the man late yesterday because he appeared to be acting strangely. He was carrying a revolver and a sub-machinegun under his clothes, and was wearing what appeared to be a suicide belt but which later proved to be fake.The man's nationality was not.....

24 arrested in bogus land registry case

Indore, Oct 11: At least 24 people were arrested and six others, including a Sub-Registrar, were suspended in connection with the land purchase scandal involving those displaced by Sardar Sarovar Project on the Narmada river to claim special rehabilitation package. Of the total 2696 farmer beneficiaries of SRP, documents submitted by 1472 farmers had been scrutinised after the scandal came to light and 262 land purchase documents were found bogus, official sources said, adding 24 people, including a Patwari, had been arrested......
