Terror Threat: Govt to monitor phone calls, net

India govt plans to monitor phones, internet
New Delhi, Aug 24: Amid the increased terror threat, the Indian government is mulling over monitoring phone calls and internet through a centralised system.

Reports say that the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) is working on the Telecom Security project, which will help the government monitor both calls and the internet in the country.

"It is viewed as a national project ... Basically, it is about monitoring certain messages or conversations so that we can ensure security of the country," C-DoT Executive Director P V Acharya was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

He went on to reveal that this technology would help in providing an interface to a service operator who can then access the messages traversing through the network.

This is going to be the BIG PROJECT for someone like Nilakini. We are ready to pay for this project also, but think how many systems we needed to protect our country. This project is based on after the terror attacks in November last year, when the terrorists were in contact with their instructors on the phone. One must think about HOW WE MUST STOP TERRORIST TO ENTER THE COUNTRY/IF THEY ENTER HOW WE MUST DOWN THEM WITHOUT ANY LOSS TO OUR COUNTRY. Frankly speaking we are going to waste 400cr for this Project; instead we can upgrade our defense system.
