'Sonia, Kochhar among world's powerful women'

New York, Aug 20: Congress President Sonia Gandhi and ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar ranked in the top 20 of the Forbes magazine's new list of world's 100 most powerful women.

Chanda Kochhar ranked at number 20 behind Sonia Gandhi who was ranked 13 in the list.

Indian-origin chief executive of Pepsico Indra Nooyi ranked at number three after Sheila Bair, Chairperson of Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

German leader Angela Merkel ranked number one, while First Lady Michelle Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton didn't break the top 30.

NY Indian couple held for keeping maids as slaves

Washington, May 17: A multimillionaire couple, who ran an international perfume business, were arrested by federal agents on charges of keeping two Indonesian women as slaves in their posh Long Island home in New York for the last several years, according to the Newsday, a prominent New York publication. The couple, Varsha Mahender Sabhnani, 45, and her husband, Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani, 51, were accused of inflicting tortures on one of the Indonesian women, while threatening to have the other one's family arrested.....
