New Delhi, Aug 20: Nine students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) involved in a ragging incident are now facing dire consequences. Making it evident that the institution will not tolerate ragging, the university has suspended the involved students for a period of two years.
Apart from the nine directly involved in the incident, ten others who were 'silent specators' to the incident have been expelled from the hospital for one year.
This comes after proctorial committee which probed the incidents submitted its report to the Vice-Chancellor.
"Nine students have been rusticated for a period of four semesters and they have been declared out of bounds from University campus with immediate effect," a University spokesperson was quoted as saying in news agency report.
On Aug 14, a ragging incident in the prestigious JNU came to light when varsity"s anti-ragging committee learned that students of Master of Computer Application (MCA) in the Sabarmati and Tapti hostels were ragging their juniors in hostel rooms.
