"Players have a duty to set standards for youngsters," says Capello

London, Aug 16(ANI): Fabio Capello, England's football team manager, believes that his players, and all professional players, have a duty to set standards for the millions of youngsters who idolise them.

Capello reckons that all football players have passion, passion for England and passion for football. But he said he won't tolerate a lack of respect towards match officials.

"The young boys have to respect the referees. But the example comes from the very top of the game. Always. Look, if they see players with their shirt in, they will have their shirt in," The News of the World quoted Capello, as saying.

"Players with their shirt out, they will have their shirt out as well. And it is the same with respecting the referees," he added.

The 63-year-old becomes as animated, as excited, as frustrated as any top manager. However, he always refrains from denigrating referees.

"I come from Italy where the respect for the official is not great. But, we have to respect the referees," Capello said. Capello further said that everyone makes mistakes, including players, managers and referees, but you have to accept the decision of the referee, whether it is right or not right.

"I tell my players to respect the officials and their decisions. Once the referee has decided it is a free-kick for you or your opponent, he has decided," he added. (ANI)
