Orissa CM denies award to IPS officer on I-Day

Naveen Patnaik
New delhi, Aug 16: A Senior IPS officer, who was selected for the police medal on 62nd Independence Day, was denied the award by Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who honoured 26 other personnel on Saturday, Aug 15.

DIG Vinaytosh Mishra of 1983 batch presently posted at Bokaro in Jharkhand was shocked when Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik honoured 26 personnel excluding him, although his name was present in the list.

Mishra expressed confusion as to why he was first nominated and then denied the medal. The officer has now lodged a complaint with the Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy.

He said, "I do not know why I was not given the award... Since my name has got the approval of the President for receiving the medal for meritorious service. So it should have been awarded to me."

"I have met the chief secretary and complained him about it. It's better that you ask him about the issue," he added
