Infiltration bid foiled by BSF near Jammu

Samba (Jammu and Kashmir), Aug.16 (ANI): Security personnel foiled an infiltration attempt by suspected militants in the early hours on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on the Indo-Pak border. The incident triggered a heavy firing from Pakistani side on the Indo-Pak border.

According to A. K Suralliya, Inspector General, Border Security Force (BSF) a group of suspected militants tried to infiltrate through the international border into the Indian side around 01.15 a.m. (local time) and the BSF had to exchange fire.

"Last night about 1.15 am our Palhad post was attacked by enemy fire and grenades. So we adequately retaliated and repulsed the attack," said A. K Suralliya, Inspector General, Border Security Force.

No casualty was reported from the Indian side.

Suralliya, however, added that investigations were on to assess the role of the attacks.

"The firing took place from the Pakistani side but we are still assessing as to what really happened. Was it just an attack or they tried to infiltrate also that we are trying to verify," said A. K Suralliya, Inspector General, BSF.(ANI)
