Malay Indian Congress women don't feel hindered by poor education

Kuala Lumpur, Aug.12 (ANI): Some women leaders in the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) don't have much of an education, but they have got the drive, commitment and passion.

According to WANITA chief Paduka Komala Krishnamoorthy, these women believe in what they do and added that women must be willing to express themselves.

"Many women leaders take a back seat. They don't realize that as branch women chiefs, they are important in finding and resolving the problems at the ground," she said when contacted," The Star quoted Komala, as saying.

She also said that efforts were on to groom women by creating an environment for them to express their thoughts and ideas. (ANI)

250 Malay Tamil families may not celebrate Pongal

Kuala Lumpur, Jan.13 (ANI): About 250 Malay Indian and Malay Tamil families in the Kampung Pandan Indian settlement are worried that they would not be able to celebrate Pongal (Harvest Festival) tomorrow as they have received final notices from the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) to vacate their houses by today.A Malaysia Nanban report said the families had been living there for the past 70 years. In earlier letters to the residents, DBKL requested the residents to move into rental.....
