Drug worth Rs 280 million seized in Kullu

Kullu, Aug 12 (ANI): Himachal police arrested a drug peddler and seized 28 kilograms of fine quality hashish from his possession in Kullu.

The sized hashish is estimated to be worth around 280 million rupees in the international market.

"Acting on a tip off, the police personnel intercepted the suspect from Paradinala near Fozal and seized 28 kilograms of hashish from his possession," said K K Indoriya, superintendent of police, Kullu district.

Indoriya said the arrested person, Budh Ram, is a resident of Kullu district and has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

"A case has been registered against him under (NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) in Manali police station," he added.

Kullu is known for producing world-class hashish. It is also grown in other parts of north India, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Morocco and Lebanon. (ANI)
