New Delhi, Aug 8: Accounting for country's highest number of Swine Flu or H1N1 cases detected in one day, India reported 96 fresh cases of the flu on Friday, Aug 7. The total number of cases is up to 712.
In spite of these startling number of new cases the government is asking the country to stay calm.

"We have managed to limit such cases to a few individuals, considering the size of our population," Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said.

In two cases in Pune that was declared critical on Friday, Aug 7 the men continue to deteriorated because they had existing diseases.
"One of them is a 35-year-old chemist with a heart problem and the other is a doctor with pneumonia," said DB Kadam, head of medicine at Sassoon.

With the number of Swine flu cases tallying up to 204 in the state of Maharashtra, Rajasthan government too issued a travel advisory asking people not to travel to the state. This comes after the advisory issued by Tamil Nadu. However, Maharashtra on Friday, Aug 7 said that the state was completely safe.
Three doctors one each from Safdarjang Hospital, a CGHS dispensary in Timarpur, and a private hospital have tested positive in the country's capital.
The Information and Broadcasting ministry has directed the media to not create panic as India has just reported one death as opposed to over thousand worldwide. The media is also advised not to show the faces of those who have tested positive for the Influenza A (H1N1) virus.
