Ponting vows to end Australian players' bickering over selection

Edgbaston, Aug 8(ANI): Australian captain Ricky Ponting has vowed to deal with the issue of deepening differences among several Australian players over selection matters.

With every spot in the in the Ashes team being so keenly contested by players, including Brett Lee, Shane Watson and Stuart Clark, there was bound to be some unhappiness over selections and Ponting has conceded that he needs to deal with the issue.

"I know there's been a bit in the news about a couple of differing opinions between Shane Watson and Brett Lee," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Ponting, as saying.

"We will look after that, we will manage that and we'll see what selectors come up with their final XI. If we have to get to the bottom of it then we will," he added.

Earlier, Brett Lee and Shane Watson were reported to be involved in a tussle, as Lee was clearly unimpressed with Watson's assertions that he needed match fitness before he could be considered for match selection.

Lee also said that he would not be able to understand the logic behind selectors leaving him out of the side despite him proving his fitness by bowling at full pace for seven successive days. (ANI)
