Petaling Jaya, Aug 8 (ANI): Malay Indians will stand to lose if the community is divided, Malaysian Indian Congress deputy president hopeful S. Subramaniam has said.
Calling on all Malaysian Indians to unite under the 1Malaysia banner, Subramaniam said so much could be done for the community and nation if the Indians in the country were united.
"There is so much to lose if we are divided," said Subramaniam, calling the 1Malaysia concept a bold and noble effort by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
Subramaniam urged all fellow Malaysians to support it in building a prosperous and harmonious nation for all generations, The Star reported.
He said that MIC would do its part to unite under 1Malaysia and appealed to all party members to heal the wounds and regain their past glory as a respected and indispensable member of the National Front.
Subramaniam, who is a former deputy MIC president, said in a statement that he would be expanding on his plans for the party and the Indian community in the next few days.
In Kuala Lumpur, MIC Youth coordinator T. Mo-han said he would allow for a free contest for the post of deputy youth leader and two posts in the central working committee in the main party. (ANI)
