New Delhi, Aug 8: Speaking on the delayed and deficit rainfall in the country, Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on Saturday, Aug 8 admitted that the country was facing a 'difficult situation' especially in agriculture operations.
The Prime Minister who revealed that 141 districts across the country are declared drought-hit said that the people must be ready for further rise in the prices of essential commodities. The paddy is the worst hit by the drought with shortfall of six million hectares.
Prime Minister who assure that the government will make sure that no citizen will go hungry said, "We are in a position to ensure adequate availability of foodgrains in drought affected areas. We should not hesitate to take strong measures and intervene in the market if the need were to rise."

Dr Singh who was talking to the state chief secretaries on the issue reportedly asked the state governments to start relief operations if necessary.
