N Korea: Jailed Journos flying back with Clinton

US Journalists Freed
Washington, Aug 5: The former US president, Bill Clinton who landed in North Korea on Tuesday, Aug 4 to negotiate the release of the American journalists detained there, was successful in doing so. The journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee are flying back to the United States with Bill Clinton.

"President Clinton has safely left North Korea with Laura Ling and Euna Lee," said Matt McKenna, spokesman for Bill Clinton.

The reporters of California-based Current TV were pardoned after, "Clinton expressed words of sincere apology to Kim Jong II for the hostile acts committed by the two American journalists against the DPRK after illegally intruding into it," a news agency report said.

The scribes were detained in March 2009 for entering the country through Chinese border. They were sentenced to 12 years of hard labour in June 2009.

US sees signs NKorea may deal on nuke issue

WASHINGTON, Dec 14: There are signs North Korea is ready to discuss specific steps toward ending its nuclear ambitions at six-way talks that begin in China this weekend, a senior US official said.
