Pune panics after Swine Flu death

Pune, Aug 5: A day after India's first Swine Flu death was reported from Pune, the public has been gripped by panic and Naidu Hospital has become a scene of chaos.

With thousands of people queuing outside the hospital to get tested for the H1N1 Influenza or Swine Flu, police personnel have been reportedly deployed outside the state-run hospital.

The death of 14-year old, Rida Sheikh not only gave the country a rude awakening about swine flu itself, the victims' family alleging that the death was due to the insincerity on the part of doctors and the private hospital has led the private practitioners to turn away the people coming in for tests.

A mother worried over the her child's raising body temperature told CNN-IBN, that she was turned away from private doctors who refused to test or give her child any medication to relieve the fever of 103 degrees.
