PPP supports trial of Musharraf: Pak minister

Islamabad, Aug. 5 (ANI): Pakistan's Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower Khursheed Ahmed Shah has said the PPP-led government supports the prosecution of all the dictators, including former President Pervez Musharraf.

The News quoted him, as saying that dictatorship provided the "main ground for the backwardness of our country...we believe that weakest parliament is better than dictatorship."

"Democracy is restored after rendering many sacrifices and everyone has to understand that continuation of democratic process would clinch prosperity for our future generations," Shah said.

"Democracy is the only way forward to fortified Pakistan," he maintained.

He further said the laws amended by a dictator which are against the freedom of the media must go. (ANI)

Pakistani opposition parties to boycott elections

Lahore, Nov 30: Pakistan's All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) has announced its decision to boycott the coming general elections. However, the grouping hinted at reviewing its decision if all the unconstitutional steps including sacking of the judges, were taken back before last date for withdrawal of nomination papers, The Nation newspaper reported. ''We believe that the decision would go in favour of the nation,'' said Pakistan Muslim League leader Nawaz Sharif while briefing newspersons about the APDM's decisions here last night......
