New Delhi, Aug 5: The Parliament on Tuesday, Aug 4 gave a nod to the Right to Education Bill that not only ensures free and compulsory education to all children aged between 6 and 14 but also makes it a fundamental right.
The HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal who had got the approval from Rajya Sabha persuaded the members of Lok Sabha to get the landmark bill passed fulfilling one of the promises Congress-led UPA government had made.
Labelling the approval as 'harbinger of a new era' Sibal said that now the children of the country had what they need to meet the challenges of today's world.
The HRD Minister, who has been fighting for this bill that is in the ministry's 100 day plan list, said that this will ensure 'quality education' and will become a tool to make India a knowledge hub.

Sibal promised that the government would ensure that a uniform standard of education along the line of Centrally-run institutions like Sainik schools is established in the country.
