Lampard urges England team-mates to win World Cup for Sir Bobby Robson

London, Aug. 5 (ANI): England footballer Frank Lampard has urged his team-mates to win the 2010 World Cup as a tribute to Sir Bobby Robson, the former national coach who died at the age of 76 on July 31 after a long battle with cancer.

The 31 year-old admitted that the death of Robson has hurt the Three Lions squad, and said that it made them even more determined to succeed in the tournament, which would be held in South Africa next year.

"It would be fantastic and a great tribute to Sir Bobby. And we believe it's possible," The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying.

The Chelsea midfielder while speaking at an event organised by England team sponsors Nationwide Building Society, said that it would be fitting if Fabio Capello's team went at least one better next year.

After Robson's playing career ended, he found success as both a club and international manager, winning league championships in both the Netherlands and Portugal, and earning trophies in England and Spain.

He had also guided England to the semi-finals of the World Cup at Italia 90, only to go out on penalties to West Germany. (ANI)
