Butt's days are numbered as PCB chief?

Karachi, Aug. 5 (ANI): The Pakistani cricket team's continues no show in Sri Lanka could mean the end of the road for Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt, The News reports.

When Test cricketer Butt replaced Nasim Ashraf last year, he was touted as the saviour of Pakistan's cricketing culture.

Critics, however, feared the 71 would not be able to do justice with what is easily the most prestigious job in Pakistani sports.

Butt has proved to be quite a disaster. This can be gauged from the fact that many of his team members have jumped ship.

Three of his handpicked men - former legend Javed Miandad, Abdul Qadir and Aamer Sohail - have fallen out with him.

According to PCB insiders, Butt has become very unreasonable even while dealing with day-to-day affairs.

They add that he frequently uses abusive language.

He may argue that Pakistan won the ICC World Twenty20 title in England during his tenure but he cannot take much credit for it.

The Pakistan team's dismal performance in Sri Lanka proves that Younis Khan is leading a bunch of under-achieving cricketers.

Pakistan currently lags behind South Africa, Australia, India and Sri Lanka and there are little signs of the team achieving any worthwhile improvement in the immediate future.

Speculations are rife that President Asif Zardari, who is also the PCB's chief patron, has lost faith in Butt and may ask him to step down. (ANI)
