Kuala Lumpur, Aug 1 (ANI): A Malay woman is said to have breastfed and reared a baby ape like a human child.
According to the Harian Metro, the story came to light when the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (Perhilitan) officers checked her house in Kuala Lumpur, after they received complaints.
A Perhilitan source revealed the neighbour had complained that the woman was rearing an ape in her house, and that it was causing disturbance and dirtying the place.
When officers checked the house, they were not able to find any evidence of dirt or noise, but they found the baby ape dressed in clothes and disposable diapers, which were changed every day
The source also said that the woman had no children, and was rearing the ape, which she did not have a licence for, as her own ever since it was born.
Officials were forced to seize the animal, the source added, despite the woman's pleas and tears.
"Even though the ape looks tame, and was reared like a human child, it is still wildlife, and has wild instincts," the Star Online quoted the source as saying. (ANI)
