110 Pak judges to retire or revert after Supreme Court ruling

Islamabad, Aug. 1 (ANI): A landmark judgement of Pakistan's Supreme court is likely to affect the position of at least 110 judges of apex court, High Courts and Federal Shariyat Court who took oath under the controversial PCO.

Following the judgement in judges' case, 110 judges, including Supreme Court judges Faqir Muhammad Khokhar and M Javed Butter, will retire or revert to their respective institutions after the landmark judgment of the apex court in the judges' case, The Dawn reports.

Both will also face a reference before the Supreme Judicial Council for taking oath in disregard of a restraining order issued by a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court moments after the declaration of emergency on November 3, 2007.

The judgment will affect 15 judges of the Supreme Court, 41 of the Lahore High Court, 27 of the Sindh High Court, 10 from the Peshawar High Court, all five of the Balochistan High Court and eight of the Islamabad High Court and four from the Federal Shariat Court. (ANI)
