Srinagar, July 29 (ANI): Residents in Kashmir termed the turn of events in the state as unfavourable, following resignation of state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
They are disappointed that the process of development will come to stop in the state.
"People wanted a stable government that would work for the development in the state. People want development. That is why they had come out to vote. If the government is not stable, then there can be no development. All these issues send across a wrong message and portray a wrong image of Kashmir internationally," said Abdul Hamid, a resident.
The ongoing squabbles between the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC) have made them increasingly wary of the elected representatives.
"All these things are a blot on the legislators whom the people elect with great hopes. But when all this mud slinging takes place, it dashes the people's hopes. It is not appropriate and good," said Harif, another resident.
Omar Abdullah on Tuesday submitted his resignation to the State Governor N.N.Vohra after a senior PDP leader alleged in the State Assembly that he was involved in the 2006 sex scandal.
However, Vohra had refused to accept Omar Abdullah's resignation, saying that the latter should continue in office till a final decision is taken on the matter.
Omar Abdullah had emerged as the state Chief Minister in January last after his National Conference Party and the Congress Party won the elections and forged a coalition government. (ANI)
