Musharraf may launch a political party

Islamabad, July 29 (ANI): In an apparent move to counter legal cases lodged against him, Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf may launch a new political party.

Speculations are rife that Musharraf is pondering over launching a new political party as his close associates have advised him to avoid appearances in media particularly when he and PML-Q's Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain are at 'loggerheads'.

Hussain, in an interview to a newspaper, criticised Musharraf for the Lal Masjid operation and the removal of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary.

Musharraf's party, if it is launched, would target the country's youth which comprises nearly 55 percent of Pakistan's total population, Pkonweb.com reports.

Meanwhile, several top 'dissidents' of PML-Q Hamid Nasir Chattha and the party's Punjab President Pervaiz Elahi have reached London to meet with Musharraf.

Insiders said Chattha is likely to discuss the country's political affairs and decide the future course of action. (ANI)
