Akram rejects Donald's theory on legalizing ball tampering

Lahore, July 29 (ANI): Former Pakistan speedster Wasim Akram has rejected former South African fast bowler Allan Donald's suggestions of legalizing ball tampering.

Akram said bowlers would not be benefited much if they are allowed to alter the state of the cricket ball during a match.

"I don't agree with him (Donald) at all. Reverse-swing comes in late after bowling on a flat track. Whatever Donald is saying about legalising ball tampering, it doesn't matter. The ball will swing anyways and so it's not going to make any difference if you legalise it or not," said Akram.

Akram, arguably one of the greatest swing bowler, laughed off Donald's suggestion saying balls needed to be at least 25-30 overs old to swing.

"Even If it's legalised, I don't think it's going to reverse-swing with the new ball. The ball has to be at least 25 to 30 overs old. So, it's just a joke to start off with." Akram said.

"It is a crime as per the rules of the game and it should not be encouraged," the former Pakistan captain added. (ANI)
