Durban, Jul 28: The letters and Khadi cloth with his signature may have sold out on auctions, but the Johannesburg house where Gandhi lived for three years is reportedly finding no takers.
The house that is located in the north of central Johannesburg hidden away into the orchards where Gandhi lived for three years from 1908 has been put up for sale by the owner, Nancy Ball.
Nancy Ball, who has lived there for the past 25 years decided to put it on sale as after failing to get any one interested in preserving the historical legacy of the house.
According to a report in The Times, no one has bid on the house, not even members from the Indian community.
The house which was designed by Gandhi's confidant and architect Hermann Kallenbach, gets its name 'The Kraal' from its thatched roofs and rondavel style.
"Mahatma Gandhi left a lot of his peace here. It's a very special place," says Ball but did not reveal the price of the house.
