Q1: Wipro net profit up by 12 pc (YoY)

Mumbai, Jul 22: The IT major, Wipro's net profit stood at Rs 1015.50 crore for the quarter that ended June 30 2009 (Q1). However, the company reported a decline in its net sales.

The company's net profit just rose 0.54 per cent in comparison with the Rs 1010 crore in the previous quarter. However, on the year on year basis the net profits have seen a rise of 12 per cent.

The company"s revenue was at Rs 6,274 accounting for a raise of 5 per cent (YoY).

The Software major's consolidated sales for the first quarter stood at Rs 6289 crore as against Rs 6482 crore in the last quarter.

Wipro's chairman, Azim Premji who said that the company was seeing the first signs of stability said, "Looking ahead, for the quarter ending Sep 30, 2009, we expect revenues from our IT Services business to be in the range of 1,035 million dollars to 1,053 million dollars."
