Trinamool Congress accuses Communists of state-sponsored terrorism

New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): Trinamool Congress accused West Bengal's Communist Government of 'state-sponsored terrorism'.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee here on Thursday said that the Communists have unleashed a reign of terror in the state.

"Situation is so worse that on one side they are going for total state-sponsored terrorism, arms are flowing in the sky with the CPI-M goons and guns and other things. In the name of joint operation, the CPI-M is capturing one after another village. We want that democracy should be restored," Banerjee said.

Banerjee met with Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and briefed them about the situation in the state.

She said the two Central Ministers assured her that they would look into her demand for Central intervention in the state.

"It has been decided that the Central Government will take care whatever they can do according to their system and according to their jurisdiction," she said. (ANI)

CPI(M) bandh call in Nandigram meets mixed response

Nandigram, Oct 29: There was a mixed response to the CPI(M) sponsored 12-hour Nandigram bandh that began at 0600 hours today. Superintendent of Police East Midnapur District G A Srinivasan said, "While it was total in Khejuri I and II blocks, there was practically no response in Nandigram I and II blocks and in Chandipur."
