LS: Oppn stages a walk out over Indo-Pak statement

New Delhi, Jul 17: The Opposition staged a walked out on Friday, Jul 17 to protest the development in the Indo-Pak relations that was brought about in the NAM summit when the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh met his counterpart from Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Like he promised, Manmohan Singh addressed the Parliament to clarify on the Indo-Pak joint statement. PM read out the excerpts for the statement and made a small speech on the statement. In succinct, he said that he told Gilani not to let terrorism breed in Pakistan's soil and to put in more effort into washing out terrorism.

Manmohan Singh also revealed that Gilani told him that there was a consensus in Pakistan over on terrorism. He also said that the dialogue between the countries will only resume dialogue only after Pakistan takes action against terrorism.

Expressing their discontent over PM's statement, the Opposition walked out of the Lok Sabha. Speaking briefly before the walk out, the leader of Opposition, LK Advani said, 'BJP protests the capitulation to Pakistan'.

Earlier, BJP said that it was 'surprised' that the government has reversed its stance on Pakistan and demanded clarification over the same.

NDA stages walkout, Railway Budget put on hold

New Delhi, Feb 26: Opposition National Democratic Alliance today disrupted the Rail Budget presentation by Railways Minister Lalu Prasad to force the Government to come out with its explanation on the suppression of the news of detention of Italian fugitive Ottavio Quattrocchi wanted in connection with the Bofors kickbacks case.Parliament has been adjourned till noon as NDA stages walkout.This was decided at a meeting of NDA leaders chaired by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.....
