New Delhi, Jul 16: The slump in the automobile industry seems to have left the country's second largest two-wheeler maker untouched. Bajaj Auto has posted a surge of 67.60 per cent in its unaudited standalone net profit for the quarter ended Jun 30.
The company's net profit stands at Rs 293.49 crore as opposed to Rs 175.11 crore in the year-ago period. The total income in the first quarter (Q1) of this fiscal increased by 1.47 per cent to Rs 2,338.47 crore.
However, the global economic crisis has not spared the sales. The sales for Q1 dipped 11.68 per cent at 5,47,662 units versus 6,20,095 units in the first quarter of the previous fiscal. And the motorcycle sales decreased by 13.58 per cent.
