LG to launch online Mobile App Store on Jul 14

Seoul, Jul 13: LG electronics is soon going to foray into the mobile applications industry. The company's will be launching its beta version of online application store on Tuesday, Jul 14.

In a statement issued on Monday, Jul 13 by the company said, LG Application Store would provide 1,400 applications including 100 free programs, available in 15 languages.

The service which will enable its users to download software and content, will be offered in Asia-Pacific countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Australia and then reach Europe and the South America by the end of this year

With this launch, the world's No 3 mobile handset maker will be joining biggies like Apple and Nokia in the mobile applications arena. The phone makers world wide are struggling to catch up with the Apple's App store success.

Like LG, south Korea based Samsug too is trying to catch up with the smartphone category. However, LG has not yet planned out to take over Apple's stronghold -United States where iPhone and Blackberry rein.
