Landmine blasts in Assam, kills 2

New Delhi, Jul 13: The army official said at least two soldiers, including a colonel were killed in a powerful landmine explosion in Assam on Monday, Jul 13.

A defence spokesperson said the army vehicle hit the landmine near the Balipara reserve forest area in Sonitpur district, about 210 km north of Assam's main city of Guwahati.

"The impact of the landmine was severe with the vehicle blown up, killing the colonel and his driver on the spot," an army commander said. He also said the remaining vehicles in the convoy were safe as they stopped the moment they saw one of the vehicle hit by the landmine.

The army official said, "The colonel was on his way to his base at Tenga in adjoining Arunachal Pradesh, bordering China, when the incident occurred."

Police blame the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) for the attack. "It could be possible it was the handiwork of the NDFB," a senior police official said.

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....
