Infosys to hire in Australia

Melbourne, Jul 13: After securing a 450-million Australian dollars contract, Infosys has revealed plans to recruit about 100 people in Australia for a variety of positions this fiscal.

The company will be hiring personnel for positions at senior and middle levels and may include some junior level employees.

"The growth will occur predominantly in Sydney and Melbourne, but also may see some people traveling to New Zealand for assignment," Infosys spokesperson was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

The spokesperson also added that the recent Telstra deal is one of the major reasons for the recruitment.

She said that the IT firm wished to hire locally for long term assignments instead of depending on its Indian workforce. This build up will complement the Consulting and Systems Integration Unit launched earlier and various new opportunities which are opening up across other industry verticals, she added.

Earlier, Infosys revealed that it had bagged a 450 million AUD application development and maintenance contracts from Telstra.

Bangalore, Mar 09:  Biotechnology major Biocon on Thursday forayed into the nephrology space with the launch of a portfolio of five renal therapy products for the domestic and global markets, which it said was cheaper compared to MNC drug prices. The new immunosuppressants for renal therapy are at least 35-40 per cent cheaper than the MNC drug prices in the similar product category, the company's Marketing Head Rakesh Bamzai said.The Bangalore-headquartered company's Chairman and Managing Director, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said.....
